Ipeople Lets Kuching Residents Report Municipal Issues Online

KUCHING, 6th MAY 2018 – Residents living within the Majlis Bandaraya Kuching Selatan (MBKS) jurisdiction will be able to report various municipal problems conveniently from their smartphone on the newly launched iPeople app.

Developed by Techninier Sdn Bhd in collaboration with MBKS, the iPeople app is an all-around platform that enables the public to report all sorts of municipal issues - from stray animals to road potholes to traffic light malfunction. Users of the iPeople app will be able to submit reports based on a list of categories, locate problems on a map with geo-tagging technology and upload photos immediately to be routed to the relevant agencies. The iPeople app launch today saw Y.B. Senator Datuk Prof. Dr. Sim Kui Hian, Minister for Local Government and Housing Sarawak as the guest of honour at Kuching Stutong Community Market.

"With virtually every person having a smartphone in their hand, the technology at our fingertips can now benefit the community greatly by reducing the time it takes to resolve a case,” said Dato’ Lion Peh, Chief Executive Officer of Techninier. “With geo-tagging and photo attachments, authorities will be able to identify and pinpoint the issue on the map quickly and efficiently."

The iPeople app is integrated with iPeople Platform so that cases can be referred automatically, ensuring the fastest possible turnaround of reports. A Case Tracker feature allows residents to monitor the progress of their reported case.

Dato' Lion Peh outlined upcoming new features to be added into the iPeople app such as free live traffic updates and an online payment system that allows residents to pay for summonses, parking or assessments directly from the app. "We also look forward to expanding the coverage of iPeople to other local councils to benefit more residents who have not previously been offered the convenience to improve their quality of living through online reporting to their local city councils."

Members of the public can download the iPeople app for Android devices from Google Play for free while the iOS version for Apple devices will be available in the near future. In addition, more information is available on the iPeople website https://www.ipeopleapp.com/
